Can a WordPress post be made “sticky”?

April 15, 2007 · 3 Comments

Regarding Antweenie’s new blog, Last Of The Sword Saints, he has one post that introduces the theme o fthe blog. The question is, can it be made to stick to the top of the page?

I don’t see an option for it in the “new post” dialog, so I will suggest he use one of the themes that has a customizable header, or set up a static intro page that apparently some of the themes can do.

Neat story, by the way, in the “legendary literature” genre.

Test post for guest author

This is a sub-title.

Here is some text. This is WordPress’ minimal interface; it lacks the text formatting options that the full installation has. Nevertheless it may suffice to give users a feel for just how simple it is to use WordPress.

Text enlargement is possible through HTML tags, and I believe the full version also has that feature.  Simple features like bold, italic, and strikethrough are right on the menu.

You can also easily create:

  1. A numbered list
  2. Item two of a numbered list
  • An un-numbered list
  • with additional items
  • such as hyperlinks

and you can insert images:Farm picture

And that’s enough for now.

As I grow progressively more annoyed with Expression Engine, and think about importing my blog to WordPress, this is a good experimentation platform.

Posting a picture

January 19, 2006 · Leave a Comment

One of my senior citizen friends has requested help in starting a blog. I think this is a wonderful idea, and plan to recommend WordPress for that process.

Here’s a picture:

Oscar covers the furnace vent To post this picture, I entered its location on the web, which is:

http://www.decrepitoldfool.com/images/01/oscar-vent.jpg

…and selected ‘left’ alignment from the choices.

The picture appeared in the editing window and I am typing around it, which is cool.

Anytime I want to enter any HTML, I just click on the HTML button and enter the changes I want (such as putting the tag on the URL above). It’s very easy.

I plan to delete this blog

January 1, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I am currently using Expression Engine.  Frankly, it’s too complicated for me.  I work in an office with someone who uses WordPress and he is very impressed with it.  (As an ulterior motive, I can hit him up for technical support).

This blog is an attempt to check out WordPress.  When I am done playing with it, I plan to delete it and either move to WordPress or stay with Expression Engine.
